This collection needed an understated pair, and so the pin tailed whydah was chosen. I contemplated between baroque pearls or rainbow moonstone for their focal, but decided that I wanted to use something more unconventional, and went with these incredibly lustrous, AAA quality, silvery-white baroque pearls. 

They’re not too large, so would flatter most women. The main colour palette of the bird is its muted greys, hence two shades of grey moonstone were used.

 

The only other colour the whydah has, besides white and grey, was its striking orange beak! How interesting! I used a strong orange initially, but decided it was not elegant enough to match with the baroque pearls, and picked out the more muted orange quartz, but added some small carnelian for a bit of a punch. 

 

If you look carefully, you’ll see blue-flashy, smooth rainbow moonstone just above the baroque pearls. This is a pair that will take you from day to night effortlessly.
